GARNER — Teresa M. Preuschl, 88, of Garner, passed away Friday, June 26, 2026, at her home.
Teresa Marie Preuschl was born March 27, 1938, to Henry and Agnes Rayhons on the family farm northwest of Garner. She grew up in Hancock County, attended country school in Garfield Township and graduated from Garner High School in 1956.
Her life was closely tied to North Iowa, family and faith. She met her future husband, LeRoy, at a dance at Duncan Hall in 1955, and the couple married January 13, 1958, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Over the years, they lived in several Iowa communities, including Mason City, Manchester, Fort Dodge and Webster City, before returning to Garner in 2004.
While living in Mason City, Teresa worked at Damon’s Department Store and Marshall and Swift. Away from work, she enjoyed simple joys that became lasting family memories, including playing cards, sewing, gardening and baking buns for family and friends.
Teresa was also active in church and community life. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Catholic Workman, the Red Hat Society and the Garfield Hobby Club.
She is survived by her husband, LeRoy; her daughter, Beverly Wilson; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; siblings; extended family; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Barbara Selken; and other loved ones.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan. A rosary will be held at 3:15 PM, followed by a Scriptural wake service.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan, with Fr. Paulraj Sellam officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
