ROCKWELL — Roger Lester Colson, 73, of Rockwell, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Oakwood Care Center after a nine-and-a-half-month battle with cancer.
Born June 19, 1953, Roger lived a life rooted in family, friendship and North Iowa community ties. His passing is mourned by loved ones who will remember him as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
Roger shared his life with his wife, Brenda, and their family. He is survived by his children, Amy Colson and Jesse Colson, along with their families; grandchildren Hunter, Makayla, Braden, Kennedy, Jaxon and Zach; sisters Janice Ramirez and Marilyn Christian; brother-in-law Dennis Schmidt; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and LaVonne Colson; his sister, Marcia Colson; his parents-in-law, Bernard and Irene Schmidt; and other family members who went before him.
Roger’s life in Rockwell connected him to generations of North Iowans through family, neighbors and friendships built over the years. Those closest to him will carry forward memories from ordinary days, family gatherings and the many relationships that shaped his life.
A public visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Rockwell Cooperative Telephone Association, 202 4th St. N. in Rockwell.
