Donald Trump lost the 2020 Presidential election by a wide margin. Today he whipped hundreds of followers into a violent frenzy, and they attacked the U.S. Capitol.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Twitter has banned Donald Trump from its platform in the wake of a deadly insurrection this week, saying Trump’s latest “statements can be mobilized by different audiences, including to incite violence.”

STATEMENT FROM TWITTER IN BANNING DONALD TRUMP:

After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter — we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.

In the context of horrific events this week, we made it clear on Wednesday that additional violations of the Twitter Rules would potentially result in this very course of action. Our public interest framework exists to enable the public to hear from elected officials and world leaders directly. It is built on a principle that the people have a right to hold power to account in the open.

However, we made it clear going back years that these accounts are not above our rules entirely and cannot use Twitter to incite violence, among other things. We will continue to be transparent around our policies and their enforcement.

The below is a comprehensive analysis of our policy enforcement approach in this case.

Overview

On January 8, 2021, President Donald J. Trump tweeted:

“The 75,000,000 great American Patriots who voted for me, AMERICA FIRST, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, will have a GIANT VOICE long into the future. They will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way, shape or form!!!”

Shortly thereafter, the President tweeted:

“To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.”

Due to the ongoing tensions in the United States, and an uptick in the global conversation in regards to the people who violently stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021, these two Tweets must be read in the context of broader events in the country and the ways in which the President’s statements can be mobilized by different audiences, including to incite violence, as well as in the context of the pattern of behavior from this account in recent weeks. After assessing the language in these Tweets against our Glorification of Violence policy, we have determined that these Tweets are in violation of the Glorification of Violence Policy and the user @realDonaldTrump should be immediately permanently suspended from the service.

Assessment

We assessed the two Tweets referenced above under our Glorification of Violence policy, which aims to prevent the glorification of violence that could inspire others to replicate violent acts and determined that they were highly likely to encourage and inspire people to replicate the criminal acts that took place at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

This determination is based on a number of factors, including:

  • President Trump’s statement that he will not be attending the Inauguration is being received by a number of his supporters as further confirmation that the election was not legitimate and is seen as him disavowing his previous claim made via two Tweets (1, 2) by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Dan Scavino, that there would be an “orderly transition” on January 20th.
  • The second Tweet may also serve as encouragement to those potentially considering violent acts that the Inauguration would be a “safe” target, as he will not be attending.
  • The use of the words “American Patriots” to describe some of his supporters is also being interpreted as support for those committing violent acts at the US Capitol.
  • The mention of his supporters having a “GIANT VOICE long into the future” and that “They will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way, shape or form!!!” is being interpreted as further indication that President Trump does not plan to facilitate an “orderly transition” and instead that he plans to continue to support, empower, and shield those who believe he won the election.
  • Plans for future armed protests have already begun proliferating on and off-Twitter, including a proposed secondary attack on the US Capitol and state capitol buildings on January 17, 2021.

As such, our determination is that the two Tweets above are likely to inspire others to replicate the violent acts that took place on January 6, 2021, and that there are multiple indicators that they are being received and understood as encouragement to do so.

I’m ashamed to be American. I thought that we as Americans were brave and if ever faced with terrorism We would unite and fight together to preserve freedom. There is no support for Biden and we all know it what kind of examples are we? We need to stand up for what is right and do it now. If we dont change or ways now our atmosphere will be so full of carbon and the ocean floor clasping from pumping out trillions of barrels of oil leaving vast cavities causing tsunamis

If tRump had accempted his defeat with even an iota of dignity none of his social medias would have been shut down. He could even have still kept suggesting election fraud but tRump has no understanding of self-control, he got what he deserved.

Now it’s time for the Twitler in Chief to just be quiet and let there be silence if he has any hopes of any type of political future. He’s almost killed his political future as of now, we’ll see if he has enough intelligence in him to understand this from this point on. You tRump followers might wish to curtail your lies and violent impulses if you wish to hear of tRump in any election in the future. How you behave in his name affects tRump’s future… I don’t think you can control yourselves.

Social media has been shutting out/stifling conservatives for the last few years.
I know you won’t believe it, I don’t expect you to believe the truth, you media masters haven’t spoon fed it to you.

Remember the old adage, “A lie if repeated often enough, becomes the truth.” All that means is that sheeple like you believe what the media tells them to believe. That’s why they(mainstream media) do not want conservative points of view aired, it goes against their narrative.

Social media shuts down LIES. If you can’t prove what you say, don’t spew it out as facts. That’s the problem across the divide- idiots who believe and repeat outright crap and the rest of us who actually research before repeating so that we know it’s factual speech.

Social media shuts down lies? That’s so sad if you believe that.

Social media shuts down ideas they fear.

You are the only one who thinks your ideas should be “feared”. No, lies are lies, and since you repeat them enough you believe them yourself.

Parlor just announced that since yesterday they have signed on 30,000 new users and fox news said that Twitter lost 30,000 accounts yesterday. I think eledon musk -you know space-x and telsa -is thinking about a new satellite to help conservatives – he also moved his companies out of liberal kalifornia to texas,

It’s “Parler” and it isn’t that popular. In my opinion, if a “billionaire” and his millionaire pals are “censored” (translated: kicked the hell off for being idiots or being too good at goading the gullible) on some ap or somebody’s private business website, they should launch their own site. I’ll build it for them, I’d only charge $10 million, which is pocket change to those moguls of business.

Parler founder John Matze said on Starnes Country that last week they received a notice on their account from Apple.
Matze said they were told they had to change their community guidelines so they reflected Apple’s. They were also told to remove certain kinds of individuals. “Apple, Google, Facebook — all these companies don’t want them to exist,” he said. “They want to use it to control politics,” Matze said.

“Apple cited instances of the service’s being used to make plans to descend on Washington, D.C., with weapons”
I am not in favor of censorship and I don’t think this censorship. Apple just said you have to watch what people are saying because there are a lot of crazies in this country who will take what is posted on the internet as the gospel truth. We just saw that happen on Wednesday and many on Parler are asking people to grab their guns and go to Washington DC to continue a coup against our government. You probably are squealing with glee at the thought of armed combat in our country between citizens – much like the Trump clan was doing while the terrorists on Wednesday stormed the Capitol Building. But, the large majority of Americans don’t want to see that happen. Twitter can ban Trump and Apple can refuse to do business with Parler. Sort of like refusing to do business with someone whose views go against your religious ideology.

What a crock of crap. They didn’t even disguise their BS bias. They issued a ban on wording that they are deciding to attribute malice to.

Just further proof that the liberal media can’t handle having a conflicting opinion, because it might influence their sheeple to think for themselves.

“They attribute malice to”? How about these?

But on Friday, many violent posts were easy to find on Parler, even without the filter as a safety net. Some users had posted gifs suggesting some Democratic politicians should be hanged, called for citizens to “armor up,” get “ready for battle,” and take “pitchforks” and “torches” to their local officials. Others suggested a secondary attack on the U.S. Capitol, some on Jan. 17 and others on Jan. 19.

“When will you #wakeupamerica,” a user by the name of Rapperjizzle408 posted on Friday. “Your words are no longer saving shit #civilwar is #necessary now!”

A user, who goes by TheInkaMatrix, took it a step further: “The only medicine for traitors and Marxists [is] death.”

It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to see that “malice” is present. Parler refused to take sensible action and they got what happens to terrorists.

Half of Americans believe there was some level of fraud in the election. That is what brought 100s of thousands to DC on the 6th. There has to be a fair and non-partisan forensic audit of the mail-in vote, or those Americans are never going to trust the system again.

You mean, that’s how it is supposed to be done currently? Otherwise your statement is a heck of a lie.

Exactly. And millions upon millions of Americans are not going to lay down and accept this election until the fair, bipartisan, forensic audit of the mail-in ballots is done.

Directly to name-calling again. That is a sure sign your position is weak, and you know it.

There is a BIG DIFFERENCE between simply recounting of the same fraudulent ballots, and an honest, non-partisan forensic audit of the mail-in ballots.

The states each did this themselves. They run their own elections and deliver the EC votes to Congress. Lots of Republicans run these elections in many states. The legislatures set the rules (again, lots of GOP). The federal gov’t does not run the election(s), it’s actually the 50 states individually.

          • Anonymous

            January 10, 2021 at 8:28 pm

And in the controversial states, the Governors superseded the legislatures. Made up their own last minute rules, or did not follow the rules that were/are on the books.

All it took took/would take is to preempt a few metros to flip a few counties in the 6 contested states, to take the 2020 election.

Keep in mind what you posted about most of the states votes for EC being overseen by GOP (technically correct). Now, also keep in mind that if a candidate(DEM) take the left coast, normal, and they liberal spots on the East coast, the REP needs to take most of the rest of the country to catch up.
