STACYVILLE — Rodney Glen Smith, 74, of Stacyville, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, after a battle with cancer.

Rodney was born January 13, 1952, in Dodge City, Kansas, the son of Eldon and Leona Smith. He later made his home in Stacyville, where he built a life centered on family, steady work and quiet devotion to those he loved.

On March 7, 1975, Rodney married Sheryl Yost in Cimarron, Kansas. The couple shared 51 years together and raised one son and four daughters.

Rodney’s family described him as hardworking and dedicated, a man who faithfully provided for his family throughout his life. He enjoyed simple, meaningful moments, especially time spent with Sheryl and friends over coffee and conversation at local gathering places.

In retirement, Rodney found joy in his workshop, where he spent many hours building small projects and crafting wooden pieces for family and close friends. His handmade work reflected patience, care and a desire to create something lasting for the people around him.

Rodney is survived by his children, Brian and Marsha, Shawna Enerio, Valerie Smith and Erica Smith, all of Stacyville, and Star and Duane Ensz of McIntire; nine grandchildren; and four brothers, Dale and Shelly, Tim and Marilyn, Gary and Rosemary, and Jeff and Sharla.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sheryl; his parents; a sister; a brother; and a son-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Heartland Congregation, 3091 470th Street, rural McIntire. Visitation will be held at the church Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
