OSAGE — A Charles City woman previously convicted of drunk driving was nabbed by police in Osage earlier this month and now faces an aggravated-misdemeanor charge for allegedly operating while intoxicated for the second time.
Vicki Anne Grimm, 55, was arrested by the Osage Police Department at approximately 8:01 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
Police listed the arrest location as the 700 block of South Seventh Street in Osage. Grimm is charged with operating while under the influence, second offense, in connection with incident 26-004061.
Grimm was booked into custody following her arrest. She was released at approximately 9:40 a.m. on July 9 after signing a promise to appear in court.
The criminal case was formally filed in Mitchell County District Court under case number OWCR027462.
Court records show Grimm was released on her own recognizance and ordered to complete a substance-abuse evaluation. Prosecutors filed trial information and minutes of testimony on July 22, allowing the case to proceed as an indictable offense.
Her arraignment is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. on August 11.
Previous drunk-driving conviction
The new arrest came a little more than two years after Grimm pleaded guilty to her first OWI charge.
Grimm was arrested for operating while under the influence following an incident on December 3, 2023. She entered a negotiated guilty plea to first-offense OWI on May 7, 2024.
District Associate Judge Elizabeth Batey sentenced Grimm to two days in jail, with the option of completing a weekend diversion program.
Grimm was also assessed a $1,250 fine, but $625 was suspended. With court costs and a surcharge included, she was ordered to pay $858.75. Court financial records show that amount was paid in full.
Second OWI carries stiffer punishment
A second OWI offense is an aggravated misdemeanor under Iowa Code section 321J.2.
If convicted, Grimm would face a mandatory minimum of seven days in jail and a possible sentence of up to two years. Iowa law also calls for a fine ranging from $1,875 to $6,250, plus court costs and surcharges.
A conviction may also bring a driver’s-license revocation, substance-use evaluation and treatment requirements, drinking-driver education and installation of an ignition-interlock device as a condition of receiving a temporary restricted license.
The court record does not yet indicate Grimm’s plea to the new charge. The charge remains an allegation, and she is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
