FLOYD COUNTY — Two Northern Iowa drivers suffered serious injuries when a pickup traveling the wrong way on U.S. Highway 18 slammed head-on into an SUV late Saturday night.
The crash happened at approximately 11:01 p.m. on July 25, 2026, near mile marker 206 in Floyd County.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 43-year-old Curtis Carr of Osage was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 18.
At the same time, 18-year-old Lilly Moen of Rockford was traveling east in a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The Silverado struck the Rogue head-on in the highway’s outside eastbound lane.
Carr and Moen were both seriously injured and transported by AMR ambulance to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, which the crash report indicated saved their lives.
The vehicles were removed by Chatfield Towing.
The Iowa State Patrol continues to investigate the crash. The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Floyd Fire Department, Charles City Fire Department, Rudd Fire Department, Nora Springs Fire Department, AMR and Chatfield Towing assisted at the scene.
