GARNER — Sherrie A. Fandel, 61, of Garner, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, leaving behind a loving family and many friends who will deeply miss her kind heart, gentle spirit and welcoming nature.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 810 State Street in Garner, with Rev. Joel Lintner officiating.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, immediately before the memorial service. Memorials may be directed to the Garner Volunteer Ambulance.
Sherrie Ann Fandel was born on October 14, 1964, in Britt, the daughter of Charles and Bette Ann (Arnold) Goll. She was baptized at Peace Reformed Church and later confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner.
She graduated from Garner-Hayfield High School in 1983 and continued her education at Hamilton Business College in Mason City.
On August 29, 1987, Sherrie married the love of her life, Bradley Fandel, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner. They built a beautiful life together in Garner, spending nearly four decades raising their family and creating memories that will remain close to the hearts of those who loved her.
For 15 years, Sherrie worked as a cook for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Community Schools. Her work allowed her to care for generations of students, including her nieces and nephews, whom she always enjoyed seeing come through the lunch line.
She greeted them with a warm smile and a loving heart, and the school community became an extension of her family. The friendships she formed during her years there were especially meaningful to her.
Family was at the center of Sherrie’s life. She found her greatest happiness while gathered around the table, celebrating important milestones or simply sharing quiet, everyday moments with the people she loved.
Sherrie also appreciated life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed caring for her colorful flower gardens, riding motorcycles with Brad, searching thrift stores for hidden treasures and spending time with those closest to her.
Her home was filled with love, laughter and the companionship of her faithful dog, Millie, and her cat, Dave, who brought her great comfort and happiness.
Her faith also remained an important part of her life. Sherrie was a devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner, the church where she was confirmed, married and remained connected throughout her life.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Bradley of Garner; her children, Joseph and Ashley Fandel of Johnston, Misty and Blake Hoover of Klemme, Cody and Jessica Fandel of Annandale, Minnesota, and Hailey Fandel of Garner; and her grandchildren, Holden, Sawyer, Lennon and Nellie Fandel.
She is also survived by her father, Charles and Kathleen Goll of Garner; her brother, Robert Goll of Ankeny; many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly; and her beloved pets, Millie and Dave.
Sherrie was preceded in death by her mother, Bette Ann Muth; her infant twin siblings, Donald and Donna; and her brothers, Edward and Christopher Goll.
Sherrie will be remembered for the quiet and meaningful ways she made people feel welcomed, loved and cared for. Her kind heart, devotion to family and gentle presence will live on through the many lives she touched and the cherished memories her loved ones will carry with them.
