LATIMER — Beverly Irene Root, 75, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories built around her family, her faith and the friendships she nurtured throughout the years.
A celebration of Beverly’s life is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
Beverly was born March 10, 1951, to Lester and Mildred (Kracht) Menning. She grew up alongside her sister, Barbara, and later welcomed her brother, Allan, into the family. She graduated from CAL Community School in 1969 before beginning the next chapter of her life.
On Dec. 27, 1970, Beverly married the love of her life, Leon Root. Together they built a loving home and were blessed with three daughters, Tonya, Heather and Melissa.
For 23 years, Beverly worked at Redneck Trailer Supply in Hampton before retiring. Retirement gave her more time to enjoy the activities she loved, including golfing, reading and playing games on her Kindle, and spending countless hours playing card games with family members.
Faith remained an important part of Beverly’s life. She was honored for 50 years of membership at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Latimer, where she generously shared her musical talents as both a choir member and church organist. Her dedication to the congregation reflected the quiet faith and servant’s heart that guided her throughout her life.
Nothing brought Beverly greater happiness than spending time with her family. She treasured every opportunity to gather with her children and grandchildren, creating traditions and memories that will continue to be shared for years to come.
Although she did not have the opportunity to meet him, Beverly’s family finds comfort knowing her legacy of love will continue through her first great-grandson, who was born shortly after her passing.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Leon; her daughters, Tonya (Andrew Mellecker) Root, Heather Hahn and Melissa (Chad) Simmons; her grandchildren, Erin Root, Jonathan (Rebekah) Simmons, Aiden Zimmerman and Jessica Simmons; her siblings, Barbara (Walt) Rehberg and Allan (Becky) Menning; along with many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Mildred Menning; her son-in-law, Brian Hahn; and several beloved aunts and uncles.
Beverly will be remembered for her quiet kindness, unwavering devotion to her family and church, and the warmth she brought to every gathering. Her love lives on in the generations she helped shape and in the countless memories shared by those fortunate enough to know her.
