MASON CITY – A woman awaiting a number of trials for serious offenses was convicted of assault last week.
According to officers at the Cerro Gordo County Jail, Tanya Veal was involved in an altercation on May 5th where she assaulted another female inmate in her pod dayroom area. She pled guilty the next day to assault and was sentenced to one day in jail and $60.00 in court costs.
Veal is now awaiting a June 3rd hearing on a motion to dismiss charges of possession of meth, 2nd offense, a serious misdemeanor. She has plead not guilty.
Veal is also awaiting trial on June 4th, 2013 on a charge of enhanced theft in the third degree brought by Mason City police.
She is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on bond of $7,000, $2,000 and $1,000, for drug and driving offenses.
