CHARLES CITY – A Charles City woman not unfamiliar to police is in big trouble after her latest arrest connected to a disturbance incident.
Charles City police on March 27 at 5:37 PM were heralded to a disturbance in the 1100 block of Gilbert Street. Officers arrived and after an investigation, encountered 57-year-old Monica Irene Brown (pictured at top) of Charles City. She was taken into custody on the following charges:
– trespassing
– felony first-degree burglary
– obstruction of emergency communications
– fourth-degree criminal mischief
– interference with official acts
Brown remains in the Floyd county jail on $25,000 cash bond, awaiting a preliminary hearing set for April 5.
Brown has found herself in trouble in the Mason City and Charles City over the past months. On February 11, 2023, Charles City police dealt with a disturbance involving Brown. In connection to that incident, Brown found herself charged with domestic abuse assault, interference with police, assault on a jailer causing bodily injury and indecent exposure. After a plea deal that greatly diminished the charges, Brown got two years of probation, a suspended 2-year prison sentence and an order to pay $1204.00 in fines and court charges.
Earlier, on April 8, 2022, Charles City police were called to handle Brown in the 900 block of 13th Street after a report, as described by police, of a “female pulling her pants down in the common area of the apartment complex.” Brown was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication. After a plea deal that greatly diminished the charges, Brown was given a fine of $105.00.
Brown was arrested in Mason City in July of 2021 for trespass and interference with police and after a guilty plea, was ordered to pay $354.00 and $600.89, respectively, in fines and court costs.
