Troy Joseph Thompson, 46, of Mason City passed away on March 29, 2024 at his home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 5.

Troy Joseph Thompson, 46, of Mason City passed away on March 29, 2024 at his home.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 2:30 PM with Pastor Wendy Johannesen officiating at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City, IA 50401. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to the time of the service.

Troy was born on March 19, 1978; he grew up in Mason City and attended Mason City Schools.

Troy was a very social person who enjoyed being around his friends, he loved to joke and laugh. He had a personality that could light up a room with his charismatic smile and his ability to make a friend everywhere he went. He could often be found tinkering and working on bicycles and vehicles. He was a collector of Iowa Hawkeye and Garfield memorabilia.

Although he struggled with the chains of addiction for over 30 years he never lost his zest for life, and said he wanted to live to be 100.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents Shila and Thomas Trunkhill; sister Tara (Cameron) Manson; grandmother Ruby Smith; longtime girlfriend Jessica Sturm; children Lily, Brenna, Tarynn, Ellie, Benny and Vayta; grandson Charlie; nephews Degen, Lukas and Myles; and many close friends and family.

Troy is preceded in death by his grandfather Maynard Smith and uncle Paul Smith.
