PLYMOUTH – A Mason City man lost his life early Sunday morning in a motorcycle accdeint when a deer entered a roadway near Plymouth, causing a fatal collision.
At about 4:21 AM on the morning of March 31, 2024, a deputy with the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department located an accident involving a motorcyclist who collided with a deer near the 1300 block of Broad Street in Plymouth, IA. The motorcyclist was identified as Allan Shafer, age 22 from Mason City. Shafer was traveling northbound on Broad Street when he struck a deer that entered onto the roadway. Paramedics responded and Shafer was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Mason City police and the Plymouth Fire Department.
