DES MOINES – Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann slammed President Barack Obama for “playing politics” with Supreme Court nomination of Merrick Garland.

“The future judicial direction of the country hangs in the balance and President Obama, with only months left in his term, has decided to play politics with the direction of the Supreme Court. Judge Merrick Garland is another liberal nominee whose past judicial record shows he will be another reliable Democrat vote on a host of issues that will reinforce liberal dominance on the Supreme Court. Now is the wrong time for President Obama to play politics with such an important decision. Senator Grassley is a faithful servant to the people of Iowa. He should be applauded for having a backbone to stand up to D.C. special interests and refusing to play political games with something that could shift the ideological balance of our country for future generations.” –
