TRIPOLI — Ramona Viola Reinke, 87, of Tripoli, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2026, at MercyOne Hospital in Waterloo.
Ramona was born March 4, 1939, in Sumner, the daughter of Henry and Viola Aschbrenner. She grew up in the Sumner and Waterloo areas, attending one-room schools before continuing her education in Waterloo and graduating from East High School in 1957.
Throughout her life, Ramona stayed busy with work, faith, family and service to others. She worked a variety of jobs over the years, including at “The Ole Big T” supermarket and St. Francis Hospital, and later retired from Bartels Lutheran Home after more than 18 years of service. In earlier years, she also taught Sunday School and served as a Cub Scout den mother.
Ramona married Ray Reinke on June 3, 1978. He preceded her in death in 1991.
She is survived by her children, Kip, Kurt, Kelly and Karol; a special grandson, Dasan, whom she raised; additional grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community Chapel in Waverly, with Chaplain Mike Blair officiating. Interment will follow at Lutheran Cemetery of Sumner Township, rural Sumner. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, July 7, at Becker & Son Funeral Home in Tripoli, and for one hour before services Wednesday at the chapel.
Memorials may be directed to Project Search at Allen Hospital in Waterloo or to the family for later designation.
