
CLEAR LAKE — Five people, including four minors, were injured Saturday evening after two personal watercraft collided on Clear Lake near the McIntosh boat ramp in Cerro Gordo County.
The crash happened at approximately 5:30 p.m., according to preliminary information from authorities. One personal watercraft was carrying an adult and a minor, while the second was carrying three minors.
Witnesses and Iowa Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officers helped rescue the victims from the water. All five people were transported to MercyOne Medical Center–Mason City for treatment. Authorities said some of the injuries were serious.
The Iowa DNR said the incident remains under active investigation. The names of those involved are being withheld pending family notification.
The Iowa DNR was assisted at the scene by the Iowa State Patrol, Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, Clear Lake Police Department, Clear Lake Fire Department and Ventura Fire Department.
