STORM LAKE – A teen girl walking alone in the Northern Iowa community was nearly abducted, but her screams drove the suspect away, and now cops want to catch the allegedly Asian male suspect.

Police say that Sunday night, at approximately 7:50 PM, a teenage girl was reportedly walking in the 600 block of West 8th when she had a frightening encounter with a suspicious person. The victim stated that a subject drove past her several times in a dirty, grey-colored, four-door car. At one point, the male suspect asked if she was single and wanted a ride, which she declined.

The situation escalated when the suspect reportedly exited the vehicle, approached her and grabbed her by the arm. Thankfully, the victim screamed, causing the suspect to flee the area.

The suspect was last seen traveling westbound in the 700 block of West 8th. He is described as an Asian male in his 30s, with short hair, no facial hair, wearing a red colored shirt and dark pants.
While there was a delay in reporting this incident, police want to remind the community how crucial it is to report suspicious activity immediately for the best chance of identifying and locating suspects. Your vigilance plays a key role in keeping our community safe.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident, heard the victim scream, or has video surveillance cameras in the area to contact the Storm Lake Police Department reference case# 24-041611 at 712 749-2525.
