IRVING, Texas- For the second week in a row, Iowa State true freshman running back Breece Hall was honored as the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, announced today by the Big 12 Conference.
A native of Wichita, Kan., Hall recorded another phenomenal performance, rushing for 183 yards and two touchdowns in Iowa State’s 34-24 win at Texas Tech.
Hall’s 183 rushing yards is the third-best total by an ISU rookie and he became the first Cyclone true freshman in school history with back-to-back 100-yard rushing games (132 vs. West Virginia).
Hall also caught three passes for 73 yards vs. the Red Raiders for 256 all-purpose yards, tying for the fourth-best output in FBS this season and the highest total by a Cyclone since Ennis Haywood had 284 all-purpose yards vs. Baylor in 2000.
Hall had touchdown runs of 75 and 30 yards vs. TTU, plus a 61-yard reception. He is the first Cyclone since 1971 to have a 50-yard rush and catch in the same game.
Hall is averaging 157.5 yards, 7.0 yards per carry and has five touchdowns in the last two games.
