Top Republican says American Health Care Act “will lower premiums, reduce deficit”

U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) released the following statement regarding the American Health Care Act’s Congressional Budget Office score, which stated the deficit would be reduced by billions while millions of American would lose coverage:

“Obamacare is a failed law that is hurting the middle class. Maintaining the current Obamacare status quo is not an option. That is why voters wanted change this election and tasked Republicans in Congress and President Trump to repeal and replace this failed law.

“The takeaway from today’s announcement is clear: the Congressional Budget Office agrees that the American Health Care Act will ultimately lower premiums and increase access to care. This legislation is the first part of a three-pronged repeal-and-replace plan. It will bring relief to families and small-businesses, give Americans more control over their own health choices, and help stabilize the marketplace. Additionally, as the CBO also pointed out today, it will significantly reduce taxes on families and health care consumers. This legislation also contains major entitlement reform — the most significant entitlement reform in a generation — which will not only save money in the short-term, but also lower long-term costs and reduce the national debt.

“This good news actually gets better, as today’s incomplete report only considers one piece of our three-prong approach. It does not take into account prong two, executive actions the administration has and will continue to take to stabilize health markets and lower costs. It does not account for prong three, future legislative action. And because this CBO report paints only a third of the picture, its statistics on coverage are obviously premature. Obamacare tried to force every American into the ‘insured’ column and failed. Our aim is to give Americans lower cost and greater choice so they can actually pick the coverage that’s right for them – without a threat from the IRS.

“Obamacare is a direct attack on the middle class. It raised costs. It crushed choice. It will continue to get worse unless we act to repeal and replace it. We’re determined to keep our promise to the American people to do so.”

Ya, maybe the Senators should pay their fair share also instead of having the tax payers pay for it.Thats an ideas that they would never go for.Walk the walk.Mitch McConnell he is such a fake of person,he looks like he hates everyone, bet never worked a hard day in his life.Paul Ryan also another that so full of it he thinks his words are gospel. How do people fall for these types of idiot to represent them in Govt.is beyond me.Trump said all will have good Big health care, won’t happen unless rich people get something out of the deal just wait and see my friends.Hell they can’t balance the govt. checkbook for YEARS and we still elect them?

I am on Obamacare, no copays and $6500 deductible. Yeah, I have insurance but I can’t afford health care. Insurance is not health care because I can’t go to a doctor because on top of the insurance costs, I can’t afford a doctor visit that doesn’t even include well care. Anything would be better than what I have now.

Mitch McConnell is full of shit.

He sure knows what he is talking about here. Smart man.

Perhaps you should dig into the Republicans proposed plan instead of just playing lip service to the by-line.
It covers fewer Americans, increases costs for low-income and senior citizens, increases the deficit and does zero to reduce overall health care costs. Zero.
Who does it help?
The wealthiest Americans and the profits of insurance companies.

Speaker Paul Ryan wants the full House to act on his plan before it goes into recess April 7.
Why?
Because he knows the independent CBO scoring will show how disastrous the GOP plan is for everyone but the rich.

Someone who thought Obamacare was good is not smart enough to understand this. The CBO report is garbage and everyone with a brain knows it.

Where did I say that the ACA was good? It was a start and needs work, but not what the republicans are proposing this time around
Right away you go on the offensive attacking others for their opinions.
Just yesterday you stated that you have tried and tried to have a civil conversations and yet here you are right away again attacking others.

Ya, and I know that it you LVS.
Once again you have proven yourself to be a liar and instead of countering my comments with fact you resort once again to insults as that is all that you know how to do.
You do not know anything about the CBO, you ignorant old fool.
And you wonder why so many people call you a dumbass and a coward.

I guess the truth must have hurt because you certainly thought I was talking about you. How typical of people who have nothing left to argue with, they start hurling insults and calling names because they have nothing else left. How terribly sad of you. What McConnell said was true, but I would have added that Ryan’s plan is not a good one and needs changes made if he wants it passed. As the plan stands I would not support it. Now, call me more names if you think it makes you any bigger.

You didn’t add squat and now you are making a feeble attempt at backpedaling.

“How typical of people who have nothing left to argue with, they start hurling insults and calling names because they have nothing else left.”
At least you got that part right because that describes you to a tee. You are an expert in that area.

No need to call you names LVS, the truth about you has already been spoken.

What a damn shame. The liberal democrat has shown his true colors once again. Afraid of honest debate so he resorts to childish name calling and insults. That is what happens when they have nothing else. Makes them look like fools.
