CLEAR LAKE — Delane “Dick” Richard Olson, 94, died September 16, 2026, at Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake, leaving memories of an active life and a willingness to help others.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, October 23, at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 First Avenue North, Clear Lake. A memorial service begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 24, at Galilean Lutheran Church, 4454 255th Street, with Pastor Melinda McVey officiating. Clear Lake VFW Post 4868 will provide a military flag presentation.
Memorials may support Oakwood Care Center, St. Croix Hospice or Dick’s family.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, Dick managed a metal fabrication business before eventually making Clear Lake home. Retirement brought lawn care work, fishing trips, golf and adventures transporting antique boats with a friend.
He treasured visits with his daughters and younger generations, enjoyed dressing sharply and volunteered with the VA.
Survivors include daughters Cynthia “Cindy” (Harry) Wirz, Karen (Mark) Glimmerveen and Julie (Tony) Schmitt; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
His parents, Manley and Alma Olson; Florence Young; and siblings Doreen Plaisance, Arlan Olson and Karelyn Porter preceded him in death.
