Two youngsters killed, one hurt in Iowa auto crash

DALLAS COUNTY, IOWA - Two youngsters were killed and one hurt in an Iowa auto crash Thursday morning.

DALLAS COUNTY, IOWA – Two youngsters were killed and one hurt in an Iowa auto crash Thursday morning.

On March 9th at approximately 7:45 AM, Dallas County deputies responded to a serious 2 car accident west of Diagonal Road on Highway 141, just outside of the city limits of Perry.

Deputies arrived and began investigating the scene and learned the accident occurred most likely due to snow covered roads and weather conditions.

Preliminary investigation at the scene suggests that a small sedan with 3 total passengers was traveling eastbound on Highway 141 when it lost control. The vehicle crossed the centerline entering the westbound lane and struck a straight truck that was driving west.

As a result of the accident 2 people in the car have passed away and the third person is in critical condition. The driver of the truck, 56-year-old Orris F Mckay of Carthage, Illinois, who is cooperating, was not injured. The Iowa State Patrol is doing the technical accident investigation.

The Perry Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Perry Fire Department, Dallas County EMS, and Perry First Responders assisted with the accident. Highway 141 was shut down for a few hours for the investigation, but is now open.

The three passengers in the car were all under the age of 18. We will not be releasing the names of the victims.
