Op-ed:
I would be interested in knowing just how many who read this site intend to vote in this coming fall election. Please be truthful and give your reason briefly as to your decision regardless of which way you will vote. This is only meant as a “straw poll” to get a sense of a possible turnout.
Traditionally the turnout here in Mason City has been very poor, this is not a good thing. The right to vote is high on your list of precious possessions; the Middle East is awash in blood because of the right to choose. It takes so little of your time and yet this simple act is really the backbone of this nation.

I can’t imagine why anyone would not vote. It is our only chance to express our opinions and try to chose our leaders. Yes, I will vote.

I always exercise my right to vote. It makes me sad when I hear how low voter turnout is.
I will vote for the first time in a long time but I’m undecided.

Peter Children-I always vote and have for the last twenty years. I have only missed one or two local elections in that time and that was when I was out of the country working. I intend to vote again this year. I think anyone who does not vote should just shut up and take what ever comes their way. If you do vote you are expressing your opinion in the best possible way. It’s only on the last election that I screwed up and voted for Bookie and Hickey. Won’t happen again. The way the both talked when campaining tricked me.
Well Larry Snyder maybe you should take some of your own advice and step up and run. Do something for you community and then maybe we wouldn’t have read about you complaining. There are people who do and people who complain. Which are you? I bet I know the answer to that one.
