MASON CITY — Randall Lee “Randy” Hoel, a Mason City man whose life was centered on family, loyalty and the steady bonds built over a lifetime, died Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Heritage Care Center in Mason City. He was 77.
Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third Street Northeast in Mason City. A private graveside service will be held.
Randy was born November 28, 1948, the son of Derald Hoel and Leona Hoel Dow. He lived a life connected to the people who mattered most to him, leaving behind a family that will carry his memory forward through the stories, lessons and everyday moments they shared.
He was a husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, and those roles formed the heart of his life. Randy is survived by his wife, Ann Hoel; his mother, Leona Hoel Dow; his sons, Benjamin Hoel and his wife Laura, Mason Hoel and his wife Stephanie, and Tanner Hoel; and his grandchildren, Natalee, Morrison, Carson and Miles.
He is also survived by his brothers, Ron Hoel and his wife Margaret, and Gary Hoel.
For his family, Randy’s passing marks the loss of a man whose presence helped shape generations. His children and grandchildren will remember him not only for the larger milestones of life, but also for the quiet, steady ways he showed up for those around him.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Derald Hoel, and his sister, Linda Schlader.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Retrieving Freedom, 1152 230th Street, Waverly, Iowa 50677, in support of the Jon Tumilson Go Crush It 5K Challenge & Frogman Fun Run.
