ANKENY – An Iowa schoolteacher was apparently driven to drink, and was busted with the booze in her kindergarten classroom by a nosey parent.
On Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, Ankeny, Iowa police officers were called to East Elementary School, 710 SE 3rd St. at 2 p.m. on a report that a kindergarten teacher was observed with a can of beer in her classroom.
The teacher was taken into custody at East Elementary School after testing positively on a preliminary breath test (PBT) device. Police officers located a leather carry bag in her classroom with two empty cans of beer and four additional full cans of beer. Arrested and charged with 1 count of public intoxication and 1 count of child endangerment was 40-year-old Jennifer L. Rich
of West Des Moines.
During questioning on Friday, police officers reported Rich’s eyes were bloodshot and watery confirming their initial suspicions of public intoxication. The event was reported to police by a concerned parent who was in the school to assist with a Valentine’s Day party.
She should have been drinking vodka. Hell I had a 8th grade English teacher at Roosevelt that had a little brown bottle in his desk drawer. When I asked him about it, he said that it was cough medicine. That could be why I passed his class with a D. But then again it might be because I hated English, who in the hell cares about diagramming a sentence.
Next they will want to smoke pot in the classroom. It never ends.
