Mason City man charged with felony domestic assault

MASON CITY – A man who was let out of jail early was arrested for a felony domestic assault.

Records show that Michael Wayne Holton, was ordered to serve 30 days in jail for failing to pay child support. He began serving time in jail on July 24, when he was arrested by Cerro Gordo deputies on an arrest warrant during a traffic stop. He was also charged with driving while suspended. On July 28, the honorable Judge Gregg Rosenbladt suspended the rest of Holton’s sentence and let him out of jail.

On the afternoon of July 29, at about 4:23 PM, Mason City police responded to a domestic situation at 150 South Grover Avenue. Holton was arrested and charged with felony domestic assault. He is being held on $5,000 cash bond (10%) and awaits a hearing on August 8.

Holton – a convicted felon – had been wanted previously on arrest warrants after numerous probation violations connected to a previous domestic assault conviction. The warrant was withdrawn when he could not be located.
