CHARLES CITY – Police investigated a possibly violent incident Sunday morning in Charles City, leading to the arrest of a suspect.
On April 27, 2025, at 10:56 AM, located a suspect in the 600 block of 8th Avenue for an incident they say took place that same day in the 200 block of 2nd Avenue. Officers arrested 35-year-old Ashley Kathryn Watkins on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault causing injury. This charge is a serious misdemeanor.
Watkins (pictured at top) was booked into the Floyd county jail at 12:34 PM on April 27, and then released on her own recognizance the next morning at 8:15 AM
Watkins is the subject of a no-contact order in this case, and has a public defender assigned. She is scheduled to appear in court on May 19 for a preliminary hearing.
