Lake Mills Area Historical Society to celebrate Tour of Homes in December

LAKE MILLS, Iowa – The Lake Mills Area Historical Society will celebrate the season with its Tour of Homes on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., during the Lake Mills annual Holiday Festival.

Homes on the tour this year are 1. Kevin and Chrissy Grothe, 308 S. Winnebago St., 2. Chuck and Jennifer McGrady, 306 N. Winnebago St., 3. Vickie Zobel, 305 E. Main St., 4. LeAnn Hagen, 207 N. Grant St., and 5. the 1901 Victorian House and Gardens, 308 S. Lincoln St.

Get tickets while enjoying the tastes and smells of the holiday season at the Ethnic Kitchen in the lower level of the Helgeson Truman Civic Center, 227 W. Main St. Tickets will also be for sale at any of the homes on the tour. Your $10 ticket will include a tour of all the homes and food, drink and a special display at the 1901 Victorian House and Gardens. On display will be the miniature house / room collection (1 inch to 1 foot) of Sandy DeVries of the historical society. Goodies will include warm Victorian bread pudding, Norwegian gløgg, apple cider and coffee.

The Lake Mills Area Historical Society is a non-profit organization housed in the 1901 Victorian House & Gardens at 308 S. Lincoln St. in Lake Mills. It also oversees the Newton County No. 5 (Burnap) Country School at 308 N. Mill St. in Lake Mills. Visit its Facebook page.
