MASON CITY — The Mason City Community School District continues to reshape and fill its workforce for the approaching school year, with another round of hires, transfers and new assignments scheduled for consideration on Monday, July 20, 2026.

The personnel changes follow a lengthy report approved by the Board of Education during its June 15 meeting, when the board hired 10 certified employees and approved numerous support-staff transfers, resignations and extracurricular assignments.

The board’s July 20 personnel report includes one new certified teacher, two special-education paraprofessionals and several employee transfers or reassignments for the 2026-27 school year.

Andrea Rodemeyer is listed for hire as a fourth-grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary at a salary of $52,005. Rodemeyer, a Buena Vista University graduate, would replace Kelly Lien following Lien’s voluntary transfer.

The proposed non-certified hires are:

Adyson Evans, special-education paraprofessional at Roosevelt Elementary, $16.90 per hour. Evans would replace Megan Walling, who resigned.

Khalid Al Fakhouri, special-education paraprofessional at Roosevelt Elementary, $16.90 per hour. Al Fakhouri would replace Caydence McVicker, who resigned effective June 17 after one year with the district.

The district is also continuing to move employees into new or expanded positions.

Lori Bublitz would transfer from substitute bus monitor to a regular bus monitor position at $15.12 per hour. The change would replace Scott Swenson and incorporate two hours previously assigned to Beverly Horner.

Horner would remain a bus monitor, but her daily schedule would be reduced from six hours to four hours. The reduction would make her ineligible for benefits.

Melody Harty would be administratively transferred from a food-service general worker position at Hoover Elementary to the same type of job at Jefferson Elementary. The district said the position was created because of increased enrollment expected at Jefferson during the 2026-27 school year. Her salary and benefits would not be affected.

Maria Koenig would voluntarily transfer from kitchen manager at Hoover Elementary to a food-service general worker position at Mason City High School at $18.26 per hour. The district said the position had been occupied by a long-term substitute.

Riley Monahan would move from a special-education paraprofessional position at Mason City High School to a behavioral interventionist position at John Adams Middle School. The new assignment pays $19.13 per hour and replaces paraprofessional positions formerly held by Kathy Rodriguez and Celina Ahmad.

Roman Ott would transfer from behavioral interventionist to therapeutic classroom specialist at the Pinecrest Center at $22.96 per hour. The therapeutic classroom specialist assignment is a new position.

The July report also includes several stipend positions connected to district responsibilities and sharing arrangements with the Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock Community School District.

Jessie Bolinger is proposed for a $15,000 facilities stipend, Amy Graven for a $10,193 recording secretary stipend and Randy Meyer for a $15,000 transportation stipend. All three are listed as new positions under the RRMR sharing agreement.

Jamie Heard is proposed to serve as the district’s homeless liaison under the federal McKinney-Vento Act for a $9,000 stipend.

The personnel changes come after the school board approved a substantial number of hires on June 15.

Certified employees hired during that meeting for the 2026-27 school year were:

Amber Brown, special education at John Adams Middle School, $59,505.

Martin Garrett, special education at the Pinecrest Center, $62,814.

Ida Gregoire, transitional kindergarten at Hoover Elementary, $58,005.

Valerie Hamilton, teacher at the Alternative High School, $71,498.

Ryan Hinderaker, associate director of bands at Mason City High School, $53,505.

Gabrielle Jimenez, special education at Roosevelt Elementary, $52,005.

Chelsey Mann, special education at Roosevelt Elementary, $52,005.

Maria Medower, first grade at Jefferson Elementary, $52,005.

Adam Smith, special education at the Pinecrest Center, $56,005.

Morgan Terwey, special education at Jefferson Elementary, $57,485. Terwey’s assignment is a new position.

The board also accepted the resignations of English Language Learners teacher Teresa Gerrard and districtwide instructional coach Justin Uhlenhopp. Uhlenhopp was separately released from his 2026-27 district contract.

Amanda Sadler was transferred to a 0.625 full-time-equivalent special-education position with the Mason City Virtual Academy. Julie Ulve was reassigned as a full-time instructional coach for the Virtual Academy because of increased enrollment.

Non-certified changes approved in June included three new behavioral interventionist positions at Roosevelt Elementary. Emeny Brattrud, Mackenzie Bromley and Mikayla Renchin transferred into those jobs at $19.13 per hour.

The board also increased Kassandra Chavez’s special-education paraprofessional position at Roosevelt from seven to eight hours per day and increased Samantha Billings’ food-service schedule at Lincoln Intermediate from 5.75 to 6.25 hours per day. The Billings change makes her eligible for health insurance benefits.

In other staffing-related action during the June meeting, the board approved the district’s 2026-27 employee handbook, substitute pay rates, health and vision insurance plans, an upgraded PowerSchool applicant-tracking system and several employee-sharing agreements.

The July 20 Committee of the Whole meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. in the library at Harding Learning Center, 1239 North Rhode Island Avenue in Mason City.
