NEW HAMPTON — Richard Allen Stolfus Jr., 58, of New Hampton, died Sunday, July 19, 2026, at UnityPoint St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Riverfront Park in Charles City, with the Rev. Mike Reicherts presiding.
Inurnment will take place at 9 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2026, at New Hampton City Cemetery.
According to his obituary, Richard was born in New Hampton to Richard Allen Stolfus Sr. and Diane Munson Stolfus. He grew up in the community and attended New Hampton High School.
Driving trucks became both a career and a passion for Richard. He spent many years traveling the highways as an over-the-road truck driver before later working as a cement truck driver, building a career around work he genuinely enjoyed.
When he wasn’t behind the wheel, Richard was drawn to the outdoors and the open road. His interests included riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, camping and spending time in the woods. He was also an enthusiastic NASCAR fan who enjoyed following the racing circuit.
His obituary paints a picture of a man who easily connected with others and had a gift for making people feel welcome. Richard approached strangers as potential friends, and the friendships he built over the years became an important part of his life.
Above all, family and friends were at the center of Richard’s world.
Richard is survived by his children, Elijah Stolfus and Rosey Perrizo, Angel Stolfus, Kayla Stolfus and Kyle Stolfus; his brother, Mike Stolfus and El Mar; his nephew, Jaden Stolfus; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Allen Stolfus Sr. and Diane Munson Stolfus.
