MASON CITY – The North Iowa Diversity Appreciation Team (NIDAT) is welcoming applications for the 2013 Embracing Diversity of North Iowa Awards. The awards were created in 2009 and are designed to recognize an outstanding commitment in understanding and appreciating diversity in the North Iowa area.
There are three award categories: individual, corporation and service organization. Nominations must detail how the individual or entity has demonstrated at least one of five behaviors including an outstanding commitment to the value and support of diversity, leadership fostering inclusion, outstanding efforts to promote a discrimination free environment, provided rich cultural experiences, and/or provided educational opportunities to improve cross-cultural understanding.
Nidat has extended the deadline of August 14th to September 11th for accepting nominations. The Diversity Award Nomination form can be found on the North Iowa Diversity Appreciation Team’s Facebook page.

Awards will be presented during the 10th Annual Ethnic “Lunch by Central Park” on September 20, 2013, which will be held on Federal Avenue just East of Central Park from 11:00 am to 1:30pm.
