CLEAR LAKE – At approximately 2:30 early Sunday morning, December 9, 2012 The Clear Lake Police Department received a call from the Mason City Police Department from the Mercy Hospital Emergency Room about a male subject that had been admitted there with a knife wound that resulted from an assault that occurred a short time earlier at the Kum & Go Convenience Store located at 2005 Highway #18 E. in Clear Lake. The victim, identified as 24 year old Brendan Douglas Prado of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota was in critical condition and was being taken into surgery.
A subsequent investigation by the Clear Lake Police Department showed that Prado had been a passenger in a car with several other people who had stopped at the Kum & Go earlier in the morning. A couple of the people from his vehicle had gone into the convenience center to make a purchase when a second vehicle occupied by several individuals had pulled into the Pilot Truck stop just east of the Kum & Go. Several individuals got out of this vehicle and approached the vehicle Prado was riding in and a verbal altercation began between the two groups of people. Soon the altercation turned physical with some pushing and punching. After the altercation stopped the other group of people went back to their vehicle at the Pilot Truck stop and left. Prado got back into his vehicle and felt pain in his torso and noticed he was bleeding profusely. His friends drove him to the Mercy Hospital Emergency room for treatment.
The Clear Lake Police Department is still investigating the incident. They are still interviewing witnesses and waiting for video footage from the Kum & Go Convenience Store and the Pilot Truck Stop. Prado remains in Critical Care at Mercy Hospital at the time of this release.
Something is not right! Why was that same guy seen in more than one vehicle at the same gas station in the same day? Sounds to me like he was using the gas station to sell illegal things! His last encounter didn’t go his way. But still no reason to stab someone. What is this world coming to? People always stabbing,shooting and fighting in public places, like gas stations and in the day time?
I wonder when people will start to realize that blogs like “Just the facts” stopped being humerous a long time time ago, and now they are just being childish and boring.

What part is tripping you up?
The part that the perps conveniently disappeared in a vehicle. I want to know if anyone actually saw people in another vehicle having an altercation with them…. And does Kum & Go have a video cam. I watch too many crime shows. LOL
