KABUL – The U.S. continues to try to get out of Afghanistan as the vicious Taliban rage across the war-torn nation.
As President Biden said in April, the United States will be out of Afghanistan by September 1. The pace of the withdrawal has picked up, and President Biden said in July, “Our military mission in Afghanistan will conclude on August 31st. The drawdown is proceeding in a secure and orderly way, prioritizing the safety of our troops as they depart. Our military commanders advised me that once I made the decision to end the war, we needed to move swiftly to conduct the main elements of the drawdown. And in this context, speed is safety. And thanks to the way in which we have managed our withdrawal, no one — no one U.S. forces or any forces have — have been lost. Conducting our drawdown differently would have certainly come with a increased risk of safety to our personnel.”
However, the Taliban have emerged from their caves, and are raging across the nation taking city after city and spreading death and destruction in their wake. As this chaos engulfs the country, American diplomats from the U.S. Department of State are attempting to console and calm the terrified leaders there.
Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III spoke Thursday, August 12, with President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani to stress that the United States remains invested in the security and stability of Afghanistan in the face of violence by the Taliban. Secretary Blinken and Secretary Austin informed President Ghani that the United States is reducing our civilian footprint in Kabul in light of the evolving security situation and will accelerate the tempo of Special Immigration Visa (SIV) flights. The Secretaries both emphasized that the United States remains committed to maintaining a strong diplomatic and security relationship with the Government of Afghanistan. During the call, Secretary Blinken, Secretary Austin, and President Ghani exchanged views on the security environment in Afghanistan, efforts to curb violence, and ongoing diplomatic efforts. Secretary Blinken affirmed that the United States remained committed to support a political solution to the conflict.
As the drawdown gets uglier, 3,000 U.S. troops are being sent back into the meat grinder to ensure no Americans are lost in this process.
“As I said in April, the United States did what we went to do in Afghanistan: to get the terrorists who attacked us on 9/11 and to deliver justice to Osama Bin Laden, and to degrade the terrorist threat to keep Afghanistan from becoming a base from which attacks could be continued against the United States,” President Biden said. “We achieved those objectives.”
Donald Trump wanted to invite the Taliban to Camp David for a “terrorist sleepover” during the week of September 11th, 2019. John Bolton, his national security advisor was stunned and told the President and his advisors “that is the stupidest f***king bullsh*t” he had ever heard in his lifetime. Trump fired him.
We spend TRILLIONS of dollars, way too many lives and leave our military equipment behind at yet more cost……ALL FOR NOTHING!
Actually, the Afghan war started by GWB2 was a 20-year window where America rebuilt the country, taught their military how to fight and count votes, and generally be a country with rights and freedoms and democracy etc. THEY BLEW IT. Anyone there or here that thought USA would remain forever or not just even leave at the drop of a hat needs a history lesson, America invades and abandons at will.
Stick a fork in him he’s done !
Ole Matt can’t delete these negative Biden / socialist posts fast enough!!
Hahaha
Right, but I can sit here and shred all your nonsense all day, while you rage type and seethe with Q nuttiness.
The Afghanistan people got there chance to defend themselves, and failed miserable because they were concerned about their family members. Well what about the American Soldiers that went over there to teach them how to fight? Weren’t their families affected? The difference is our soldiers would fight to the death for our country. The Afghanistan soldiers instead of fighting to death for their freedom they caved and surrendered.
It’s time for our soldiers to come HOME!!!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO EVERY MILITARY MEMBER OUT THERE!!!!!!!
No matter what political party your members may affiliate with.
Impeach Biden and bring back Trump.
Why do you hate America?
What a disgrace Biden is the worst President ever!
The Population who voted for this Obama third term hand puppet applauded the free handouts promised to them.
Did you tear up your stimulus check? Didn’t think so.
In all of my years have I ever seen people dumb enough to elect two puppets. Biden and Kamala to destroy our country. They both show everybody they are not fit to hold any position in our country.
Name one thing Biden has done right in the 7 months he has been president. Just one thing.
Joe Biden is an IDIOT
SOCIALIST DEMOCRATS ARE IDIOTS
OPEN BORDER
CHINA VIRUS SURGING
INFLATION SKY ROCKETING
How disrespectful to our fallen Afghanistan soldiers.
why
They weren’t drafted. They got paid and chose to go on their own volition. Nam and WWII and Korean USA soldiers, etc, on the other hand…
They had twenty years to fight their own battles. The Americans showed them how to defend themselves, and when it came time to do so they failed. They caved like cowards. The American Soldiers should not have to spend a lifetime to defend a country that should be defending itself by now.
How they went about it may have been wrong, but it is time for our soldiers to come home.
The afghans who helped the Americans are traitors to their own country. They knew the price when they chose to work for us. There is only one possible punishment for traitors: death, in a manner according to the country they betrayed.
You are an idiot and a traitor to this country.
So in your opinion those afghans who helped the US aren’t traitors to their country. Then Aldrich Ames, ex CIA, and Robert Hanssen, ex FBI are not traitors for turning on the US and spying for Russia. You can’t have it both ways. If you help the enemy, you’re a traitor to your country. People like you who are emotional, should not be allowed to make decisions. Look at things logically, objectively, and honestly, please.
The Afghans who helped the US did so because they did not want to see their country overrun by the Taliban. Many of the right-wingers feel it necessary to tell people who come to this country seeking asylum or a better life to return to their own country to make it a better place rather than come here. Are you one of those people? These people helped the US believing that we would rid Afghanistan of the Taliban. We were wrong and they shouldn’t be punished for our failures. Your attempt to categorize these people with the likes of Ames and Hanssen is irrelevant and a false equivalence.
The afghans who helped the Americans did so to line their pockets. You may make all the excuses you wish. If you help the enemy, you’re a traitor to your country. That point can not be refuted.
You are still an idiot and a clueless one at that. If you saw someone trying to take over this country and you knew that their plan would end up killing thousands of fellow Americans, and Canada stepped in to help prevent it, you are saying any American who helped the Canadians is a traitor? That is ridiculous.
Do ya think maybe those 3000 troops won’t be in danger – my god man its a war zone – probably have to have hundreds of aircraft and drones involved – could this get messy ? You marxists tell us it ain’t so ?
One good thing? Trump is gone. That is the best thing the Dems did for America
Yup..look what you have,
or is he?
nuke the entire middle east garbage people.
You are the garbage.
If he is Middle Eastern, you are racist
The Middle East isn’t any different than the US.
You have the indoctrinated morons(Marxists,Communists, those that call themselves Socialists, Liberal, you know Democrats), then you have the rest of the people. Some of them are plain simple folk, some highly educated, lazy, hard working, honest, thieves, in other words, all kinds, just like here.
It is the indoctrinated that give the rest a bad name.
Like in the US
President Joe Biden faced the media last Monday and doubled down on his Afghanistan decision to move out. He blamed the Afghan government and military for giving up control easily to the Taliban. It’s called, The Blame Game!!
President Joe Biden faced the media last Monday and doubled down, he was adamant that chocolate chip is his favorite flavor of ice cream.
Afghan Pres looted and fled. Afghan military folded like a sheet in a Trump hotel. Donny set the deadline to get out. Biden said enough’s enough. Anyone who stayed behind did it for greed or stupidity, they had months to make plans and leave long ago. Common sense.
So who made the promise that we’d be pout by May 2021?! It wasn’t Biden!
Damn, I wish there was an edit button. OUT not pout.
Name one good thing. You can’t, so you start to deflect.
When the U S left Viet Nam 1975 the SAME WAY – the communist congs murdered over 1 million non communists civilians in the next few years – We do suppose the people that have been backing US forces will receive the same – not hard to imagine. Well the drugs dealers here in America don’t need the poppys (cocaine) in allyland anymore were up to our azz in drugs coming from Mexico some supplied by the chinse government like fentanyal -just a tiddy bit can kill you -like 90k Americans found out last year.
“supplied by the chinse government like fentanyal -just a tiddy bit can kill you -like 90k Americans found out last year.”
But Joe the Chinese Hand Puppet gets paid.
How many people have been killed by the Democrat made up term, “assault weapons” in the United States in the last 10 years?
I don’t have that number either(The most recent AND WORST year I could get data on was 2019 at 369 take time 10 equal 3690, I’ll give leeway out to 4000) , but I DO KNOW that it is less than what the CHINESE Fentanyl(I am lumping all opioids together for a total of 69,710 in 2020)killed just last year.
Guess which one the Democrats are trying to aggressively remove from the streets, for you liberals here is a hint, not Fentanyl.
The “assault weapon” deaths (369 in 2019) came from FBI crimes statistics page. 2019 has the highest number for rifle deaths, then times 10 years and adding in an additional 310, I feel I weighted this HEAVILY on the Democrats side.
Yet, at 4000 deaths, this number paled compared to the 1 year total of opioid (CHINESE FENANYL) deaths. There is a difference of OVER 65,000.
As the drawdown gets uglier, 3,000 U.S. troops are being sent back into the meat grinder to ensure no Americans are lost in this process.
