FAYETTE — A Northern Iowa man already awaiting trial on a felony drug charge was arrested again after a Fayette County deputy found a vehicle parked in the traveled portion of a roadway on a recent early morning, authorities said.

The incident happened at approximately 3:05 AM on June 15, 2026, at the intersection of 152nd Street and Lantern Road near Fayette.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy came across the vehicle parked in the roadway. After an investigation, Christopher Lee Becker, 43, of Fayette, was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor, and parking in the travel portion of a roadway, a simple misdemeanor.

Authorities said a canine gave a positive indication, leading to a probable-cause search of the vehicle. Deputies said illegal substances were found inside.

Sara Flores, 44, of Fayette, was also arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance — marijuana, first offense, a serious misdemeanor.

Both Becker and Flores were taken into custody and transported to the Fayette County Jail, where they awaited initial appearances.

Custody records show Becker was booked into the Fayette County Jail at 5:27 AM on June 15 and bonded out later that day at 1:53 PM.

Court records show Becker (pictured at top) was already out of custody while awaiting trial in a separate Fayette County felony drug case. In that case, State of Iowa vs. Christopher Lee Becker, case number FECR075618, Becker is charged with possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense, a Class D felony, stemming from an alleged February 3, 2026, offense.

Court filings show Becker entered a written plea of not guilty on April 1, 2026, and waived speedy trial. A pretrial conference is scheduled for July 29, 2026, with a jury trial set for August 19, 2026.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the June 15 incident by the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office and its K-9 unit.

Becker and Flores are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
