MASON CITY – The Mason City Fire Department headquarters is getting new concrete at this time.
As part of a capital improvement project approved by the city council, this year, all the concrete driveways in front, back and parking lot on the east side at the Fire Department headquarters is being replaced. It is located at 350 5th Street SW.
Heartland Asphalt is the contractor and the bid was for about $232,000. The project should be done by the end of June depending on the weather, Chief Bob Platts said.
“The old concrete was original and was installed in 1973 so it has held up rather well considering all of the truck traffic over the years,” Chief Platts said.
