MASON CITY – A major construction project is underway for a new fieldhouse and natatorium at Mason City High School, and a groundbreaking ceremony was held this week.

The event was held May 19, just outside Mohawk Field on the high school grounds at Mason City High School. A new fieldhouse and natatorium is being constructed, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of Mason City property tax payers and the unrelenting ability of the school board to tax them with practically no boundaries.  The event featured a welcome from Superintendent of Schools Dave Versteeg, student reflections on the project, and a  “turning of the shovels.”

“It’s all about the kids, so it was great to hear from MCHS students how excited they are about the new fieldhouse and natatorium at yesterday’s groundbreaking ceremony!” Henkel Construction proclaimed after the event. They are again in charge of the project after submitting the winning bid of $23,920,000. The project will take at least another year to complete.

How about dismantling the entire public school bureaucracy?

The unions are destroying themselves. In fact all unions are doing it. They have become so political trying to hold onto their grip on their own members and retirees. They have forgotten their reason to exist.

HOMESCHOOLING cannot be underestimated! “Break the backbone” of a TOO POWERFUL teacher’s union! They’ve been “dictating” for far too long….and “here we are!” Your children should not be “socializing” in environments created by public schooling!

I would, without a doubt, HOMESCHOOL! I say “bankrupt” the public schools… students, no school!

Has Henkel ever done a pro under budget? Serious question here.

A pool is a great investment for the 10 kids on the swim team. Maybe they could funnel some of the money into the superintendents bank account, like the last team of crooks we had at MCCSD.

not a dump, when i was young there used to be a very large pond there with a dirt birm around it. it was full of frogs and we would go sit on the birm and shoot them. no worry, city limits ended at illinois!!! not a dump, a swamp

Henkel is cleaning up the swamp?

Make Henkel pay the cost of building on a dump. Henkel built the high school so they knew the dump was there or they made the dump when building the high school.

Ta Dump..Ta Dump it’s Henkel

Forest city has had many problems with the swimming pool Henkel built for them. Pipes weren’t deep enough for winters in Iowa. Leaks and more.

its so easy to spend when its not your money. All about the kids? Look at the wages and benefits of those who “work” at the school system. Has very little to do with the kids
