Northern Iowa wife jailed after husband shot dead

This Northern Iowa woman is behind bars after she allegedly shot her husband dead, police say, during a domestic incident. Reportedly, the couple were in a domestic dispute, and the suspect took a gun and shot the victim in the back as he chased a dog.

CEDAR FALLS – This Northern Iowa woman is behind bars after she allegedly shot her husband dead, police say, during a domestic incident.

On Wednesday June 4th, 2025, at approximately 18:32 Hrs., Cedar Falls Police were called to 4317 Newland Dr. for a domestic dispute. It was reported that one person had possibly been shot. When officers arrived on scene David Alan Charlton (DOB: 01/20/1953) was found deceased.

Kimberly Ann Charlton DOB: 06/10/1958, was detained by officers and transported to the Cedar Falls Police Department.

After an investigation, officers charged 66-year-old Kimberly Ann Charlton with first-degree murder, a class A felony.  Reportedly, the couple were in a domestic dispute, and the suspect took a gun and shot the victim in the back as he chased a dog.

Cedar Falls Police were assisted by Black Hawk County Dispatch, MercyOne Paramedics, and the Cedar Falls Fire Division.
