MASON CITY – A Mason City man who fled the scene of a home burglary in March says he’s not guilty, but has been arrested after being wanted for weeks on an arrest warrant.

Dylan James Mennenga, age 21, allegedly burglarized a house along with 46-year-old John Dana Adams back on March 23. Mason City police officers were dispatched to suspicion call at 11 25th Street SW and upon arrival it was determined to be a burglary of a residence call. Fleeing the scene were Mennenga and Adams, who were found shortly thereafter, hiding in separate locations. Both were jailed and later released.

Mennenga entered a not-guilty plea to felony third-degree burglary and third-offense possession of a controlled substance as he was appointed a public defender and set free awaiting a trial. In April, he was accused of violating his pre-trial release, and a warrant for his arrest was issued. He was brought to jail on the warrant after he showed up at the Cerro Gordo courthouse Monday afternoon for a pre-trial conference. He’s now being held on $5,000 bond in jail. He will face a May 23 jury trial, and a pre-trial conference the day before.

Mennenga, earlier this year, pled guilty to meth possession in Hardin county and has been on probation. He was accused of violating his probation prior to the alleged burglary, but the case was dismissed.

Meanwhile, Adams has also entered a not-guilty plea to charges of felony third-degree burglary and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon. He posted $10,000 bond on April 17 and was set free from jail, awaiting a June 6 jury trial and a pre-trial conference set for May 22.
