WASHINGTON, D.C. – The United States Senate on Wednesday took a step toward repealing ObamaCare. The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions and Senate Committee on Finance will now work on advancing repeal and replace solutions.
U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) issued the following statement after voting in support of this measure:
“Throughout my 99 county tour across Iowa, I hear countless stories from Iowans facing premium increases, as well as skyrocketing out of pocket costs like deductibles and copays that they simply cannot afford. Folks have been demanding relief from ObamaCare, and made that clear when they sent me to Washington in 2014, and they reiterated that call in 2016. It’s time to act.
“The action taken by the Senate is a step towards repealing this disastrous health care law. Iowans deserve affordable health care coverage that meets individuals’ and families’ needs, instead of Washington deciding what is needed in your health care plan.
“As we work to repeal and replace this bill, I recognize that it is critical to have a stable transition period in place and to ensure that folks with pre-existing conditions are not denied coverage.
“Moreover, we must provide choice and flexibility, instead of one-size-fits-all mandates and taxes. This can be done by making coverage more portable, allowing folks to buy insurance across state lines, and encouraging small businesses to come together to negotiate health plans.
“Today marked an important step in repairing the damage caused by ObamaCare so we can replace it with affordable, patient-centered solutions.”

If they would just do away with a few of the other things that suck taxpayers dry. You know, just a few
like heating assistance, housing assistance, food stamps, free phones, years of unemployment, etc.
I pass 15-20 help wanted signs on my way to work everyday.
Maybe if we stopped giving everything, people might be forced to get up and go to work like those who currently are paying the tab for all these giveaways
And included in that first step was doing away with forbidding insurers from dropping or refusing coverage for those with previous illnesses or afflictions. So, if you have a prior condition and are dropped by your insurance company, you will not get insurance from anyone unless you purchase a very expensive policy. Thanks. We needed that. Gotta get rid of these sick people in this country.

Better be careful what you wish for in that county…sooner or later you are likely to want some heath care assistance when you get cancer from all the fertilizer and roundup runoff in the water supply there.
Apologies….. my comments were meant to be sarcastic. I am on Medicare and the research I have done relative to my situation and the future scares me to death. I would like to be optomistc but time will tell. I didn’t ask for heart disease and a bout with cancer but it is what it is.

It’s like the intelligence meetings Trump has, the press knows what is being said before the meeting is over with. The entire democratic party is doing any thing they can to make Trump look bad even if it is illegal. I think they should get rid of both parties but before they do that take the democrats and dump them all on a deserted island. OK Teacher-I read it and re-read it and can not find a single thing about pre-existing. All I saw was repeal and replace without any details. (I would guess that is because they don’t have any yet). So, where do you lefty’s get off saying everything is decided. I do not think they can take that out as they would never get it passed through the Republican side. Quit trying to scare people with something you know nothing about and wait until you have something confirmed. That way you won’t look like a fool.
Now, all that being said, if they would just quit giving our money away to illegals People who have never paid a penny into it in payroll deduction or taxes) we would have plenty of money to cover the people that have paid. Do away with un-needed welfare and make people who are able go to work, pay taxes and pay for their own living. My dad worked, my mother worked, my brothers and sisters all worked and I worked and my wife and family all work. They should work too.

Do you think the Republicans want to broadcast the parts of the plan they know will be subjected to the most criticism? They may say that pre-existing conditions will be a part of the plan but every plan they have come up with either does away with it or allows insurance companies to come up with a high-risk category which, according to the plan just passed out of committee, would cap the amount they could charge pre-existing patients at 200% of the other plans. Over 50% of Americans fall under the broad section of pre-existing conditions which could/could not be used to determine what those conditions are.
Really?? Where does it say anything like that in the article you asked me to read? Do you now have the inside track on what the senate is doing? Nothing has been decided and once it comes out of committee it has to be voted on. Those politicians want to be re-elected and are not going to cut their own throats. Relax and wait for the final draft before you get your panties in a knot.
