MASON CITY – Starting early Monday afternoon, several thefts and burglaries were reported across Mason City.

Around 2:45 pm, a caller from the 300 block of East State Street reported that while he slept someone took cash from his home. Mason City police said Tuesday that a suspect is an immediate family member who has access to residence and knows where money was kept.

A short time later, a Mason City Police officer was dispatched to 000 block of North Madison to take a burglary report. Mason City police said Tuesday that there are no suspects, with forced entry.

During the same time, another report was also called in at the 300 block of 8th Street SE.  Mason City police said that this was a civil issue between an ex girlfriend and boyfriend.  Another call to the 1200 block of South Hampshire involved a female who thought someone may have entered her residence because a vase was knocked over on ground. There was no forced entry and resident’s rambunctious dog was running inside and was believed to have knocked vase over. Mason City police also responded to a call on Crestmore Way where an immediate family member stole money from a piggy bank. A juvenile was charged with 5th degree theft.

Finally Monday evening, police went to the 400 block of North Penn after a woman went to her girlfriend’s house and took a shower. When she came out of the shower, police said, money was found to be missing from her purse.

Mason City police said Tuesday that just based on the incidents above, they “don’t see much for random victimization or home invasions.”

Mason City police responded Monday to a possible theft of cash at 324 East State Street.

Great article! We will be linking to this particularly great content on our site. Keep up the good writing.

Based on the headline, I thought there was some connection between all of these random burglaries and thefts…. However, after reading it I realized this was just a random read-off of the police activity report.

Swell! – your kid got charged with 5th degree theft for stealing from a piggy bank – what moron would call the cops and have this put on his childs criminal record – no brainer !

A parent trying to teach his kid a lesson! More parents need to do this.

I agree. Parents are more worried about being their childs friend rather than a parent and teaching right from wrong.

There must be a new batch of Meth in town.

so in other words, its news but not news worthy.

Probably one of the damn hobos with the smart phone
