OELWEIN — A woman suspect was hauled to jail after police raided a Northern Iowa residence Tuesday night and allegedly uncovered methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia.
The Oelwein Police Department executed a search warrant at approximately 7:43 PM on September 8 in the 100 block of 6th Avenue NE.
During the search, police said officers located and seized illegal controlled substances.
Angel Marie Schuneman, 38, of Oelwein was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine, first offense, a serious misdemeanor

Possession of a controlled substance — marijuana, first offense, a serious misdemeanor

Prohibited act — prescription drug violation, first offense, a serious misdemeanor

Possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor
Schuneman (pictured at top) was taken into custody and transported to the Fayette County Jail pending an initial appearance.
Jail records show she was booked at approximately 8:44 PM Tuesday.
By 9:54 AM Wednesday, September 9, custody records listed Schuneman as out of custody after bonding out.
Police said additional charges are pending and the investigation remains underway.
The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit and Iowa State Patrol assisted the Oelwein Police Department with the investigation.
The raid is the latest in a series of drug investigations in Oelwein. NIT reported in July that another late-night Oelwein house raid allegedly turned up methamphetamine, marijuana and illegally possessed prescription drugs.
Earlier this year, five Northern Iowa suspects were nabbed following another Oelwein-area house raid that produced a string of drug charges.
Recent assault conviction
The new arrest comes less than a month after Schuneman was discharged from supervision in a separate Fayette County assault case.
Court records show Schuneman was charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness stemming from a May 11, 2025 incident in Oelwein.
She pleaded guilty to the serious misdemeanor on September 10, 2025.
A judge imposed a 60-day jail sentence but suspended 58 days, giving Schuneman credit for two days served. She was also fined $430 and placed on probation for one year.
Court filings show an order of discharge was entered August 11, 2026.
The latest drug charges are accusations. Schuneman is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
