Late-night Northern Iowa house raid allegedly collars one suspect, turns up meth, marijuana and illegal pills

A Northern Iowa woman was hauled off to jail after police raided a home late Saturday night and allegedly uncovered methamphetamine, marijuana, unlawfully possessed prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia.

OELWEIN — A Northern Iowa woman was hauled off to jail after police raided a home late Saturday night and allegedly uncovered methamphetamine, marijuana, unlawfully possessed prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia.

The Oelwein Police Department said officers executed a search warrant at approximately 11:17 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2026, at a residence in the 200 block of Third Avenue SE.

During the search, officers allegedly located and seized multiple illegal controlled substances.

Vanessa Lynn Wilson (pictured at top), 41, of Oelwein, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor; possession of marijuana, second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor; unlawful possession of prescription drugs, a serious misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.

Wilson is also listed in custody records under the alias Vanessa Lynn Latham.

She was booked into the Fayette County Jail in West Union at approximately 2:31 a.m. Sunday, July 12, and was listed as remaining in custody pending an initial court appearance.

Police said additional charges are pending and the investigation remains active.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Oelwein Police Department with the raid and investigation.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
