Person shot dead in Eagle Grove today

POLICE CHIEF — Police in Eagle Grove say a person was shot dead early this morning and they are investigating the killing.

POLICE CHIEF — Police in Eagle Grove say a person was shot dead early this morning and they are investigating the killing.

According to Eagle Grove Chief of Police Ray Beltran, on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at approximately 2:35 AM, the Eagle Grove Police Department received a 911 call in reference to a shooting incident which occurred on the 100 block of South Lucas Avenue. The Eagle Grove Police Department requested the assistance of the Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) in reference to this investigation.

The shooting incident resulted in the death of one male individual. The name of the victim is not being released at this time There is no threat to the public, police say.

The Eagle Grove Police Department was assisted by the Wright County Sheriffs Office: Iowa State Patrol, Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Eagle Grove Ambulance Service and Quick Response Vehicle. The investigation is still ongoing and no further information will be provided at this time.
