UPDATE: Woman cited after two vehicle accident Tuesday morning

A Toyota Avalon with two passengers suffered major damage Tuesday morning after a collision on 19th Street SW in Mason City.

MASON CITY –  A two vehicle accident was reported at approximately 8:45 am, Tuesday, at 19th Street SW and South McKinley Avenue.

Mason City Police and other emergency responders were dispatched to the accident.   At the scene, a GMC Yukon had struck a pole and was resting on the railroad tracks.

Two young males were escorted to an ambulance for an examination. No transports to the hospital were necessary. The Toyota Avalon they were traveling in had major frontal damage.

One westbound lane was temporarily closed.

Police said this afternoon that Kathryn Jean Nelson, 32, of Mason City, who was driving the Yukon, was cited for failure to obey a stop or yield sign.

 

GMC Yukon came to rest on RR tracks.
