EAGLE GROVE – An accident where a man’s pickup truck was struck by a train took a man’s life Sunday.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 33-year-old Jesse Froehlich of Belmond was in his pickup truck near Eagle Grove in Wright county at about 5 PM Sunday, September 7, when he encountered a train crossing with the arms down and may have tried to go around the arms.
Am eastbound Union Pacific train struck Froehlich’s pickup truck as he failed to yield. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
An investigation into the accident continues.
