MASON CITY – This convicted drug dealer was caught by Mason City police after he allegedly invaded a house and caused thousands of dollars in damages.

In the early morning hours on July 31, 2025, Nicholas Todd Rush, age 33, is alleged to have entered an unoccupied house in the 1100 block of East State Street in Mason City without permission. Mason City police tell NIT that Rush is also suspected in damaging numerous items inside as well as damaging various structural components of the home. Estimates for structural and content damage exceed $10,000, which led police to apply for arrest warrants for 3rd Degree Burglary and 1st Degree Criminal Mischief.

Clear Lake police caught Rush on August 28 on the warrant, and he was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail that evening at 4:54 PM. He was held on $10,000 cash-only bond. However, he was released from jail the next day under the supervision of the Department of Corrections.

NIT previously reported that Rush was convicted fro dealing drugs back in 2013 for crimes he committed in 2012, and sent to prison.
