Mason City man sent to prison for violating his probation

MASON CITY – A Mason City man who was on probation in a felony drug dealing case was found guilty of violating his probation and his original 5 year prison sentence that was suspended has been imposed by a judge.

Nicholas Todd Rush, age 22, is now awaiting transport to prison as he is held in the county jail. He had taken a plea deal in 2013 after the Iowa State Patrol caught him with drugs that were ready to be delivered. He was sent to Beje Clark for 6 months, placed on probation for 3 years and ordered to pay $1,988.50 in fines and fees.

Rush was accused of violating his probation this past September and a warrant was issued for his arrest. A month later, Rush was caught by Mason City police on the evening of October 14. He resisted arrest and provided false ID to the officer, and was charged with interference with official acts causing bodily injury and providing false ID.

On December 5, Rush was found guilty and sentenced to 30 days in jail and ordered to pay $545.25 in fines and court fees.

Additionally, on December 5, Rush was found guilty of violating his probation in a previous drug case and a previous felony burglary case. Records show that 5 year prison terms from both cases have been imposed.
