CEDAR RAPIDS – An alleged online predator from Ohio thought he could come to Iowa and entice a child, but a biker group dedicated to eradicating despicable behavior had other ideas.
On October 25, 2023, at approximately 6:48 PM, the Cedar Rapids Police Department was contacted by Bikers Against Predators, who report they are a non-profit organization taking action against online child predators. The organization reported an encounter with an adult male at Residence Inn, 730 33rd Ave SW, who was attempting to meet and engage in illegal sexual activity with one of their members. This individual was posing as a 13-year-old female on a messaging app. CRPD Officers met with members of Bikers Against Predators and Walter Conkright, age 27 of Cincinnati, Ohio (pictured above in jail photo).
As a result of the investigation, Conkright was charged with enticing a minor under age 16. This is a class D felony. He was taken to the Linn County Correctional Center and held there. Records show Conkright posted a $5,000 bond and was released on October 26. He now awaits a November 3, 2023 preliminary hearing.
Bikers Against Predators is based out of Northern Indiana and claims to have caught 225 online predators thus far.
