CLEAR LAKE – Clear Lake emergency responders investigated the death of a Ventura man late last week.
The Clear Lake Fire and Police Departments were dispatched to 3305 Main Avenue, on Friday May 5, 2017, at 7:55 pm, on a report of an unconscious male trapped under a trailer.
When emergency responders arrived, they found Dale Kjellsen, 64 years old from Ventura, lying in between parts of a flatbed trailer. Kjellsen was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial reports indicate that Kjellsen was working alone on a trailer in the lot of 3305 Main Ave. Kjellsen was crushed between the two parts of the trailer (the bed and wheel frame) when the trailer parts shifted. It appears Kjellsen was working on the frame while the bed was lifted above him. There were no indications of “foul play” involved in the incident and investigators deemed the death an accident.
An autopsy was performed by the medical examiner’s (ME) office on 5-6-17. Preliminary reports determined the cause of death to be head trauma. The ME’s office has ruled the death accidental.
Kjellsen’s family has been notified, and his obituary is posted on this page.
The case remains under investigation.
