Car crash leads to drunk driving charge for Charles City woman

CHARLES CITY – A Charles City woman was taken to jail for drunk driving after she crashed her car.

The incident took place on the evening of Friday, July 29. Deputies with the Floyd county sheriff’s office were sent to the 1800 block of Gilbert Street for a crash. At the scene was the driver, Roberta Lockrem, age 56. She allegedly drove her car into a pole along the side of the road.

As a result of the crash and ensuing investigation, Lockrem was arrested on a charge of first-offense operating while intoxicated and failure to maintain control, court records show. She was taken to the Floyd county jail for processing and soon released, pending a court date.

Granted, this individual should have been arrested but this act is no different than the Mason City Police Officer, Jennifer Barr, hitting a stationary object (a parked vehicle along side the road). She has no ensuing investigation or legal actions pending against her…a double standard. She obviously used her knowledge as a Police Officer by using innocent people so as to avoid a first response by her own people (other Officer’s), to avoid the courts and possibly loss of a career. I have absolutely nothing against Police Officer as they place themselves in harms way many times during their careers. I do have heartburn with individuals in any career field that are using their position (Hillary Clinton) to avoid legal ramifications and additionally harm (not necessarily physically) innocent people in the process. As a person (not a Police Officer), she lacks honesty, integrity, ethics, moral and commitment (to the people she serves). Her resume consist of adultery, a barfly (excess or beige drinking) and welfare checks to her home for no show to her PO position (speculation of drinking involved). This is not the type of Officer that should be protecting and serving the good citizens of Mason City. But, they hired her…hmm. Do keep in mind as a spouse of a disabled Veteran and/or wounded in action Veteran, they in many cases or circumstances (not all) have equal opportunities or head of the line preferences for local, state and federal government positions. They can be held equal to a Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart or any other type Armed Forces Expeditionary medal recipient’s when it comes to preferences in employment. One might ask…is this how she obtained her PO position? If it is so, she divorced her wounded Veteran, after gaining the PO position…commitment, integrity, morals, sacrifice, ethics. This is also a sign of lack of leadership within the department.
