MASON CITY – A Mason City woman pleaded guilty to domestic abuse assault this month and is serving a 2 day jail term.
Nadia Noel Contreras, age 38, was arrested by Mason City police back on October 15, 2014 after officers investigated a domestic incident. After legal maneuvering, Contreras eventually accepted a plea deal. She pleaded guilty to first offense domestic abuse assault. Judge Karen Salic handed down a sentence of 365 days in jail with all but 2 days suspended. She was also ordered to serve one year of probation and to pay $675.75 in fines and court fees.
As part of the earlier investigation, Contreras was also charged with illegal drug possession. She pleaded guilty and was given an identical jail sentence and ordered to pay $237.00 in court costs and fees.
