Iowa man shot dead

gunBURLINGTON – An Iowa man was shot multiple times and soon pronounced dead.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety reported that on February 16, 2015, at approximately 2:41 PM, emergency personnel were dispatched to the intersection of South 7th and Elm Street in Burlington, Iowa in regards to a report of a man being shot.

Upon arrival by Burlington Police, officers identified the victim as Deonte Raynell Carter, 24, of Burlington. Carter suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body and was transported to Great River Medical Center, where he was subsequently pronounced dead. The Iowa Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) was contacted and responded with several agents, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Crime Scene Team, to assist in processing the scene of the shooting.

Investigators continue to gather evidence and conduct interviews into the events preceding the shooting. No arrests have been made in this case.
